About

Artistic roller skating is a sport similar to figure skating but where  competitors run on roller skates (quad)  instead of ice skates.

Regent Skating Club aims to provide a safe environment for anyone wishing to learn artistic roller skating. Progress is monitored through national proficiency tests and once skaters are competent enough, if they want to, they can start to compete in UK National competitions.

Within artistic roller skating there are several disciplines:

  • figures (similar to compulsory or “school” figures on ice)
  • freestyle (individuals performing jumps and spins)
  • pairs (a subset of freestyle with two people performing jumps, spins, and lifts)
  • dance (couple)
  • solo dance
  • precision (team skating, similar to synchronized skating on ice)
  • show teams

Artistic roller skaters traditionally use use quad skates.
